Greg Lambousy Letter

Dear Madame/Sir,

I have surveyed John Snyder’s collections and have found them to contain a wealth of material related to the later 20th Century music history of our nation.   Mr. Snyder worked for a wide range of record labels including Atlantic, CTI, A&M, Private Music, Fantasy, Concord, RCA, Sony, Sony Legacy, Verve, Telarc, GRP, Elektra, Rounder, Columbia, House of Blues, Justin Time and his own Artist House Recording Company.   He produced a who’s who of jazz and blues musicians including Dave Brubeck, Chet Baker, Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra, George Shearing, Gerry Mulligan, Lucky Peterson, Lightnin’ Hopkins, James Cotton, Etta James, Charles Brown, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Mavis Staples, Maria Muldar, Junior Wells, Derek Trucks and many more.

The LP, cassette tape, reel-to-reel tape, CDs, interviews, videos, posters, instruments, sheet music, handwritten scores and correspondence are a national treasure.   We do not have sufficient storage at this point in time to accept the entire collection but we are very interested in the portions that are directly related to Mr. Snyder’s work in New Orleans and other areas of Louisiana.
